Subramanya Swamy Temple Gokavaram

Subrahmanya Swamy , who fulfills the desires of devotees
– Daily worship to Swamy
– Every Tuesday, Vrats, Abhishekams

Do you want to see the entire Kailasanadhu family at once? Do
you think you can find such a rare darshan anywhere?
This opportunity is available to devotees in the Subrahmanya Swamy temple, which has a history of about 200 years in East Godavari district.
This temple is famous for curing snake diseases and obtaining children. Established during the Nawabs’ time, this
temple was initially built as a mosque, but over time it took the form of a temple.
Although there are devotees in the country and abroad who know the speciality of this temple, their number is limited. Locally
, this temple has a big name in the surrounding villages. The aim of this book is to inform everyone about its greatness
. That is why this small effort.
According to the story of the priests, the legend of the place:
During the time when the Nawabs ruled the Nizam region, a Muslim named Fazullah Khan
worked as a Tahsildar in the agency area 2 centuries ago. He
used to collect rent from the farmers who were farming in this area and send it to the Nizam Lord. Even when natural disasters occurred,
the farmers would suffer losses and collect rent and hand it over to the king, which
earned him a good name during the Nizam rule. Every year, during the harvest season, Fazullah Khan, who used to collect rent from the farmers, would go hunting
at night in the hills around Pedda Bheempally in Devipatnam mandal
. However, a cobra would obstruct his hunting on one of the four or five hills here
. The cobra became an obstacle for Fazullah Khan, who was traveling on horseback to hunt livestock and birds, so
he decided to kill it. However, no matter how much his staff
tried to stop him, one day he killed the snake. As soon as the snake died, Tahsildar
Fazullah Khan lost his sight. He came down from the hill with the help of his staff
and realized how much of a mistake he had made. He decided to atone for his sin. He
called scholars from Rajamahendravaram and told them everything that had happened. When
the scholars came to know about it, they said that since the snake that adorned the neck of Kailasanath was a replica of Lord Subrahmanya Swamy
, they should install an idol of that Swamy and worship it with devotion. So Fazullah Khan
buried the Naga king right where he had killed the snake. He specially brought a stone,
carved an idol of Lord Subrahmanya and installed it on that tomb. As per the instructions of the scholars, to perform continuous
worship here, he called a Brahmin family from Korumilli near Mandapet
and started daily worship here. After some time, Fuzullah Khan
regained his sight and told the Nizam everything that had happened. Although they did not believe him, he was punished.
Whenever he came to collect the money, he would come to this hill and perform pujas to Lord Subrahmanya.
Over time, he could no longer come to this place due to his old age, so he
talked to the villagers of Pedda Bheempally, which was about four to five kilometers away from this hill
, and moved them near the hill. He named this place after the same village and gave them some land,
made arrangements to organize annual festivals for the Lord, and left for Hyderabad.
Priests from Korumilli:
At that time, as there were no Vedic scholars in this area, Fazulla Khan brought here
some Brahmin families from Korumilli village in Kapileshwarapuram mandal on the advice of some prominent people from Rajamahendravaram
. He also gave them a few acres of land for their livelihood
. Later, even after his death, with the help of the villagers,
the Brahmin families of Korumilli perform abhishekam to Lord Subrahmanya every Tuesday
. Also, every year in the months of November or December, the Subrahmanya Shashti festival
is celebrated with great pomp. A Brahmin scholar named Lanka Brahmayya was the first priest of this temple, and
currently his fourth generation is earning a living by performing pujas here.
After Brahmayya, Lanka Satyanarayana Murthy, and then his son Lanka Rajalingeswara Rao
have been performing pujas in the lineage. Currently,
under the leadership of his son Lanka Naga Satish, the daily pujas and abhishekams of the Lord are being performed in this temple. The gifts given by the devotees are
their livelihood. Despite the meager income, the Swami’s pujas
are being performed continuously. Although most of the lands given by Tehsildar Fazulla Khan
have been abandoned, their family continues to serve Subrahmanya Swamy in the lineage of their lineage.
Although some land is still under the control of the temple, the temple does not get much support due to the cultivation of karapendalam tuber here
. Due to this, the Endowment
Department under the state government did not care about this temple. That is why this temple
did not get much popularity.
The entire Shiva family can be seen in one place:
Devotees who come here to have darshan of Lord Subrahmanya are very lucky.
Because having darshan of Lord Subrahmanya here means having the fortune of seeing the entire Shiva family at once
. The reason for this is that where Fazulla Khan killed the snake and buried
it, the Tahsildar installed not only the idols of Lord Subrahmanya along with his wives Valli and Devasena, but
also the idols of Lord Shiva and Parvati, the parents of Lord Subrahmanya. Due to this, one gets a wonderful opportunity to have darshan of Lord Subrahmanya along with Valli and Devasena, the original couple, Shiva and Parvati, at the same time
. It
is a rare occurrence for the entire Shiva family to be gathered together in one place . This is why locals and people from the surrounding villages flock here.
Apart from the people, devotees from other states also come to visit the Lord
.
Marriage and child-bearing are achieved:
This temple has become a Kalpatra for devotees.
This temple has gained some popularity as the wishes of the devotees who come here are fulfilled.
Devotees who have come to know the greatness of the Lord of the Note and the Note come to Fazulabad without considering the distance
. It is especially noteworthy that if those who are getting older or are not married
come to this temple and perform the Nagadosh Puja, their dosha is removed and they get married immediately. Similarly,
if a married couple has passed away but has not had children for years, then
devotees believe that if they visit the Lord of the Temple and worship him, they will have children within a year. Moreover, the priests say that
any wish they wish, such as jobs, promotions, business growth, etc., will be fulfilled
. So, those who have such needs visit Lord Subrahmanya
and fulfill their desires. Moreover, after their desires are fulfilled, they come back again and
pay their vows.
Fazullaabad village was formed as follows:
This village was formed in the Pedda Bheempally Panchayat of Devipatnam Mandal of East Godavari District. The Subrahmanya Swamy temple was established
here because of Tehsildar Fazulla Khan, who worked in this area during the reign of the Nizams, and the people of Pedda Bheempally village named this area after him. Since Fazulla Khan often visited Hyderabad, the letters Fazulla in his name were taken and the letters Bad in Hyderabad were combined and the name ‘Fazullaabad’ was given to the place where the temple is located. Although it is located in Devipatnam Mandal, there is a road route via the Gokavaram Mandal center. To reach this temple, which is about 35 kilometers away from the historic city of Rajamahendravaram, there is an RTC bus facility up to Gokavaram . Autos are available from there. Fazulabad is 70 kilometers away from the district headquarters Kakinada city. From there, there is also an RTC bus facility to Gokavaram. Passengers can reach Fazulabad by traveling 3 kilometers by auto from there.
